INSTALLATIONS WITH ADHESIVE FLOORING SCREED

In this type of floor heating installation, the pipes of the system are fixed on the (existing) structural subfloor without additional insulation or reflection foil.

Characteristics*:

Floor heating pipes can be mounted on a steel mesh by means of Wire Ties or Ty-Raps.

The grid of the mesh is determined by the pipe spacing you are using (10cm x 10cm or 15cm x 15cm).

Underfloor heating pipes can also be fitted on a subfloor by making use of fixing rails and plastic nails. The pipe fixing rails can be manually extended or shortened and are suitable for pipes with a diameter of 14mm to 18mm. In average you would need 3 rails per m².

Plastic Hammer Clips are generally used when thermal insulation has been installed beneath the structural slab or when thermal insulation is not required, this installation method involves directly and solidly attaching underfloor heating pipes in (concrete) subfloors. You pre-drill 28mm with a 6mm drill and then fix with a hammer

 

 

 


INSTALLATIONS WITH FLOATING FLOORING SCREED

In this most common way of installing underfloor heating, a reflection foil or reflective underlay is placed on top of the entire structural floor. Afterwards edge insulation is fitted and steel mesh is placed on which the underfloor heating pipes are attached.
One of the advantages of creating a floating flooring screed is the low risk of cracks from the structural subfloor and the ability of the floor to expand and shrink.

Edge insulation should be fitted when creating a floor heating system with floating flooring screed. The insulation prevents unwanted heat loss and allows expansion and shrinkage of the floor. The edge insulation will also ensure that there are no thermal bridges between the floor and walls.

Aluminium Reflection Foil is a reflective film with an aluminium coating that reflects heat into the screed and displaces cold through the subfloor, making it an extremely effective heat conductor. The foil is placed underneath the floor heating pipes and can easily be cut to size.

 

 

 

 

Thermofloor Silence
Thermofloor Silence


The Thermofloor Silence layer consists of an expanded polystyrene foam with a metallised PET film. This layer can be used for installation of a floor heating system on steel mesh and has very good reflective characteristics. In addition, the Thermofloor layer ensures good sound insulation between the floor slab and screed.

 

 

 


INSTALLATIONS WITH FLOATING AND INSULATED FLOORING SCREED

Insulation should be considered an integral part of your underfloor heating system. If the subfloor, you are laying your system onto, does not have insulation beneath it will be necessary to place insulation directly beneath the heating system to ensure manageable heat up times and to minimise running costs. The better the insulation of the floor, the better the output and warmth of the floor heating system which means better energy efficiency.

Tacker insulation plates offer a total solution for insulation and easy installation. The plates are laid on top of the subfloor and the underfloor heating pipes are attached by means of Tacker clips. These clips are fixed with a Tacker stapling device (in average you fix 3 clips per meter of pipe). Additionally, you can also choose to use pipe fixing rails on top op the insulation.

Castellated underfloor insulation panels are designed to simplify the procedure of preparing the floor for laying heating pipes, reducing installation time with the profile panel assisting in quick and easy positioning of pipes. The castellated panels are supplied with thermal insulation boards which reduces downward heat losses and provides a base on which to fix the underfloor heating pipes.

 

 


INSTALLATIONS ON EXISTING INSULATION

Tacker grid foil or castellated panels can be used for installations directly on existing insulation
The panels and grid foil allow you to install underfloor heating pipes in a quick and easy way.

This polypropylene grid foil can be placed on top of PUR insulation or EPS insulation plates. Underfloor heating pipes are fixed on the foil by means of  Tacker staples. The foil has a grid marking of 10cm x 10cm and an inner grid of 5cm x 5cm; allowing you to make use of different pipe spacings.

Castellated panels without insulation are designed to simplify the preparation of the floor for installation of heating pipes and reduce installation time. These panels make it possible to carry out quick and easy installations on existing insulation. The castellated panels can be used for heating pipes with a diameter from 14mm to 17mm.

 

 


DRY FLOOR INSTALLATIONS

The dry floor plate system offers the perfect solution for underfloor heating systems for low construction heights or places where the load-bearing construction is less strong (wooden subfloors for example).

  • Type of screed: Floor finish directly on top of the dry floor system or structural subfloor

The dry floor plate systems offer the ideal solution for installations where available height is limited. Another important feature is the low weight of the total dry system, which makes it possible to install underfloor heating in places where the load-bearing structure is less strong, such as when used on wooden subfloors. The EPS insulation plates are placed together with Omega heat diffuser profiles, which diffuse the heat from the heating system and are placed on top of the dry floor plates. The use of Omega profiles to ensure proper heat diffusion is therefore required when installing a dry system.

Please also note that you need to make use of a heating pipe with a diameter of 14mm when you choose to use the 25mm system and a pipe with a diameter of 10mm when you choose to use 15mm system.
Floor finishes such as laminate and parquet can be placed directly on top of a dry floor system, but should you prefer a tiled floor (or similar floor finishes that require a structural subfloor) you need to place fibreplates on top of the system to create a suitable subfloor for ceramic floor finishes (Knauf dry screed flooring for example).
