Underfloor heating Manifolds and Connectors
MANIFOLDS FOR LOW TEMPERATURE SYSTEMS
The manifold is the heart of any water based floor heating system and works by the flow of warm water that is supplied by the boiler. Warm water passes through a valve and into the manifold, which then in turn draws water from the underfloor heating pipework. Colder water from the pipework is then mixed with the warm water supply from the boiler to ensure a uniform temperature runs through the pipes.
Stainless Steel Manifold
Open Modular Manifolds are used where the water supply temperature to the manifold is provided at the correct temperature for the underfloor heating system and a pump elsewhere in the heating system provides enough pressure for sufficient circulation (e.g. the pump of a boiler).
This stainless steel manifold features flow meters which allows you to manually set the flow of water for each port.
This Plastic Modular Manifold is made of fiberglass-reinforced polyamide and, when making use of a heat exchanger, can be used for floor cooling without insulating the unit. The high quality material from which this manifold is made, ensures that there is virtually no condensation.
The plastic manifold also features flow meters which allows you to manually set the flow of water for each port.
MANIFOLDS FOR HIGH TEMPERATURE SYSTEMS
Manifolds with a blending valve are used where the water supply temperature to the manifold is provided at a higher temperature than required for the underfloor water heating system. Water that is being let into the pipework of the system is mixed to acquire the right uniform temperature.
This temperature is manually controlled by a thermostatic valve and depends on the floor finish that is layed on top of the heating system. In most cases, a temperature of 40°C is set for ceramic floor finishes and 28°C for wooden floor finishes (if in doubt consult your floor supplier).
Manifold with Blending Valve
Manifolds with Blending Valve, are used where the water supply temperature to the manifold is provided at a higher temperature than required for the underfloor heating system (“high temperature heating system”). In this case, water that is being let into the floor heating pipework needs to be mixed to acquire the right temperature for the system. This manifold consists of loose components that are mount by means of metal brackets and is provided with a thermostatic valve to prevent the floor from getting too warm in case of malfunctions. The blending valve is assembled with the energy efficient Grundfos UPS2 pump.
Compact Steel Manifold
Compact Steel Manifolds consist of a pre-assembled steel construction with build-in blending valve and pump. The manifold includes a flow temperature gauge, return header and flow header. One of the advantages of this type of manifold is the decrease in space that is required and it is easy to install.
A compact steel manifold is used for high temperature heating systems and is provided with a high limit sensor to prevent the floor from getting too warm.
The manifold is assembled with a standard UPS 25 - 55 Grundfos pump, but can also be assembled with the energy efficient Grundfos ALPHA2 L.
